1. Who we are
Work & Errands is operated by Denomira Systems LTD (“Denomira”, “we”, “us”), 298 Sam Guobadia Street, EDPA Ugbowo, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
This policy explains what we collect when you use the Work & Errands app, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. It should be read together with our Terms & Conditions.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, phone number, email address, profile photo, and whether you use the app to hire, to work, or both.
- Worker profile: your headline, bio, service area, rates and the kinds of work you do.
- Identity verification: the type and number of the ID document you submit (NIN, BVN, international passport or driver’s licence), and the result of the check.
- Jobs: job titles, descriptions, categories, budgets, the job’s location and any exact address or directions you add.
- Messages and photos you send in the in-app chat.
- Payout details: your bank name, account number and account name, so we can pay out your wallet.
- Ratings, reviews and disputes, including what you tell us when a job goes wrong.
Information collected when you use the app
- Location: when you are the hired worker on an in-person job, the app shares your device’s location while the job is active, so the client can see you on the way and while you work. We do not track your location at other times. You can turn location access off in your phone settings, but live tracking will then stop working.
- Payments and wallet activity: amounts, dates, references and the status of payments, refunds and withdrawals. Card details are entered on our payment partner’s secure page. We never see or store your full card number.
- Device and technical data: a push-notification token for your device, your IP address, and basic logs of requests to our servers.
We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell your personal data.
3. How we use it, and why
- To provide the Service (performing our contract with you): creating your account, matching jobs and workers, running chat and live tracking, holding and releasing protected payments, and paying out your wallet.
- To keep people safe and prevent fraud (our legitimate interests, and legal obligations): verifying phone numbers and identities, limiting abuse such as repeated login attempts, investigating reports, and resolving disputes.
- To meet legal obligations: keeping financial records, and responding to lawful requests from authorities.
- To contact you about your jobs, payments, account and security, through the app, push notifications, SMS, WhatsApp or email. These are service messages and are not marketing.
Where we rely on your consent, such as for access to your device’s location or for push notifications, you can withdraw it at any time in your phone’s settings.
4. What other users can see
- Your name, profile photo, worker profile, ratings and reviews are visible to other users.
- The general area of a job is visible to workers browsing jobs. The exact address, directions and map pin are shared only with the worker you hire.
- A worker’s live location is shared only with the client on the job they are doing, and only while that job is active.
- Your phone number, email address, ID details and bank details are not shown to other users.
5. Who we share it with
We share personal data only with service providers who help us run Work & Errands, and only as much as they need:
- Payment partners (Nomba and Paystack) to take payments, hold funds and send payouts. They receive your name, phone number, email, payment amounts and, for payouts, your bank details.
- Termii, to send your login codes by SMS or WhatsApp. It receives your phone number.
- Identity verification providers, to check the ID document you submit.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, to deliver push notifications to your device.
- Cloudflare, to store profile and chat photos. Chat photos are private and can be opened only by the people in that chat.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers that run our servers and databases.
Map tiles in the app are loaded from OpenStreetMap, which receives your IP address and the map area being viewed, not your account details.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, to protect someone’s safety, or to establish or defend legal claims. If Denomira is involved in a merger or sale, personal data may move to the new owner under the same protections.
6. International transfers
Some of our providers process data outside Nigeria. When that happens, we rely on the safeguards allowed by the Nigeria Data Protection Act, such as adequacy decisions or contractual protections, to keep your data protected to the same standard.
7. How long we keep it
- Account and profile information is kept while your account is open.
- Job, payment, wallet and dispute records are kept for as long as the law requires for financial and tax records, even after you close your account.
- Messages, photos and location history from a job are kept for as long as needed to support the job and any dispute about it, then deleted or anonymised.
- Login codes expire within minutes and cannot be used again.
8. How we protect it
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls on staff access, private storage for chat photos, and extra checks on sensitive actions such as changing payout bank details. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify you and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission of a breach where the law requires it.
9. Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your data, except for data we must keep by law or to settle open jobs or disputes;
- object to or restrict certain uses of your data;
- withdraw consent where we rely on it;
- ask to receive your data in a portable format.
You can update most account details in the app. To make any other request, including deleting your account, email developer@denomira.com from the email address on your account. We will respond within the time the law allows. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
10. Children
Work & Errands is only for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has an account, contact us and we will remove it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
